This step should be done after all construction in the store has been complete in order to protect the printer from any remaining dust and debris entering the printer and causing damage.

 Follow these steps to setup, connect, and test the printer.

  1. The included laser printer has been pre-configured to work with the system. The printer may be installed up to 300 100 feet from the X-Changer cabinets but should be installed near the X-Changers. Decide on the location of the Brother report printer. It requires about 2-foot square area of table space and one dedicated electrical outlet.DO NOT Plug in to the X-Changer power or battery backup. This will damage the system.
  2. There is a

    network port on the rear of the printer, connect an appropriate length

    network cable to the port.

  3. Unpack the toner cartridge and remove plastic shipping tabs
  4. Install toner cartridge in printer
  5. Connect the printer power cord.
  6. Connect one end of the data cable to the Print Server. Run the cable to X-Changer "A". Refer to the "Proper Cable Installation" section located at the end of the document for information on cabling requirements

    There may be a plastic cover that needs to be removed before the port can be used.

  7. Route the cable up through the hole in the bottom of the X-Changer

    and connect the data cable to the one of the ports on

    the Ethernet HUB in the X-Changer A

    the ethernet switch.

  8. Unpack the toner cartridge and remove plastic shipping tabs.

  9. Install toner cartridge in printer.

  10. Connect the

    Power cord to the printer and to a 120VAC outlet

    printer power cord. DO NOT Plug in to the X-Changer power or battery backup.

  11. Fill the printer with paper.

  12. Test the printer for basic operation as follows:

  13. While holding the button on front of the printer, turn on the power switch on the side of the printer.
  14. After turning on the power, continue holding the front panel button for 5 seconds
  15. After releasing the front panel button, note that the "drum" indicator light remains lit
  16. Depress the front panel button again and release.
  17. Note that the "Ready" light goes ON and the Drum light goes OFF
  18. A single 'Test" sheet should be automatically printed on the printer

    Power on the printer and wait for it to cycle through its startup procedure.

  19. Press the “Go” button 3 times. The printer will print out a Printer test page with various information regarding the printer. On one of the pages it will note the local IP address. It should be noted as 10.0.0.99.
