For Top Mount solutions, CCI strongly recommends mounting a top mount solution 1 1/4 inches from the front of the machine to the edge of the reader to allow for card swipe clearance. Ensure the drilled hole aligns accordingly. Mounting the top-mount bracket any further back then 1 1/4 inches (1.25") from the front of the machine to the edge of the reader can potentially interfere with mounting the reader to the bracket and may prevent users from being able to swipe or insert a card into the reader due to lack of clearance. |
Drilling Preparation
- Select a part of a machine where the high-front or top-mount solution will be installed. Ensure this location, whether on the chassis or a panel, is away from any existing components or exposed wiring.
- Mark where you may want to mount the reader with a permanent marker if needed.
- Mark where you may want to mount the reader with a permanent marker if needed.
- Whether keeping the section / panel intact, exposing, or removing said section/panel, apply some cutting oil where drilling through metal will take place.
Drill the oiled section in question carefully using the tungsten carbide tipped hole cutter.
With the drilled hole prepped, you are now ready to mount the reader.
High-Front Mount
In a high-front mounting solution where the FasCard reader will be angled downward toward the customer in regard to taller machines, our C-6465 bracket would be used for this install.
- Attach the C-6465 High Mount Bracket in its place, securing down with a chase nipple.
- Mount the universal bracket to the high-front bracket with two (2) 8-32 screws and feed the harness wiring through the center. Whether choosing to feed wiring first or mounting the bracket first is no problem as long as the end result (pictured) is achieved.
- Connect the harnesses to their appropriate locations in the back of the reader.
- Mount the reader to the corresponding bracket with the top lip catching the locking edge and carefully wedging the reader in place. Ensure no metal edges of the bracket are visible.
Secure the reader with available T15 secure torx screws. This may be part of the install kits or the screws used from a previous high-front solution.
Note title Screwdriver Angling As the reader is angled downward in high-front solutions, securing the reader may require a thinner secure torx screwdriver or a flex extension for the appropriate torx bit to accommodate for the angle.
- For third generation (F3) FasCard EMV-ready readers, remove any plastic protectors (if still present) from the touchscreen or EMV chip insert label.
Top Mount

As stated above, for Top Mount solutions, CCI strongly recommends mounting a top mount solution 1 1/4 inches from the front of the machine to the edge of the reader to allow for card swipe clearance. Mounting the top-mount bracket any further back then 1 1/4 inches (1.25") from the front of the machine to the edge of the reader can potentially interfere with mounting the reader to the bracket and may prevent users from being able to swipe or insert a card into the reader due to lack of clearance. |
In a top mount solution, the process differs slightly from a front or high-front mounting solution. Our C-6452 bracket would be used in this application.
- Attach the top-mount bracket onto the top panel of the machine, securing down with the chase nipple. Ensure appropriate wiring is fed through the center hole for connecting to the reader.
- Connect all harnesses to the rear of the touchscreen reader where required.
- Mount the reader to the corresponding bracket with the top lip catching the locking edges (Red) and carefully wedging the reader in place. Aligning the reader to the top mount also secures the ground post (Teal) to the reader.
- Secure reader with included T15 Secure Torx screws.
- For third generation (F3) FasCard EMV-ready readers, remove any plastic protectors (if still present) from the touchscreen or EMV chip insert label.
