Customer is charged the pre-auth amount for each transaction.  This is due to Samsung's specific pay encryption format of the following:

For each swipe, Samsung sends over a different credit card number for encryption purposes.  So, therefore, the pre-auth amount is charged at each swipe.  When the amount is settled, the customer is only charged for what they spent at the machine.  *NOTE*  This will be fixed in the August 2019 FasCard Firmware Core 8.00 Release. When a customer uses an active NFC device for contactless credit/debit payment, the card number differs from the actual card number of the physical card added to their digital wallet.

What is a Digital Card Number and how is it different from my Card Account Number?

When you add credit/debit cards to smartphone NFC payment systems (e.g. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay), a Digital Card Number is created in place of your Card Account Number.

This number is used when you make a payment with Samsung Pay the respective NFC pay services regardless of whether the receiving device utilizes EMV encryption or its required backend checks and processes (or a refund of that payment), so that your Card Account Number isn't . As a result, the physical Card Number is not shared with the merchant and won’t appear on the receipt (instead the receipt will display the last 4 digits of the Digital Card Number). Each time you add a Card to Samsung Pay, a new

Digital Card Number is created.

If using Samsung Pay to obtain a refund, you may have to provide the last 4 digits of your Digital Card Number. You can find your Digital Card Number in the Samsung Pay app.

For payments processed through online merchants, Samsung Pay will also use either the Digital Card Number or another uniquely generated account number as a representation of your Card to process the transaction.
