  • FasCard F1 Card Reader

Bootstrapping/resetting an F1 reader proves to be beneficial for situations in which the readers' software has not been operating as intended. Examples of this includes software locks, hardware miscommunication, new component installation, among other issues.

Any time a reader has been bootstrapped/reset will cause it to delete all internally stored data and values. All transactional data and configurations are stored on the FasServer and will not be lost.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Power cycle the Card Reader
  2. Upon bootup, the FasCard name and logo will appear. At this moment, press all three buttons simultaneously. 
  3. Press the Image Added button when prompted. 
  4. An options menu will come up.
  5. Using theImage Added down arrow, highlight the Factory Reset option. 
  6. When the Factory Reset option is highlighted, press the Image Added minus button. 
  7. The reader will then download and install its base firmware configuration. 
  8. Once complete, it will request a reader address (machine number) to be assigned. 
  9. When a number has been saved, the reader will then install the chosen firmware.
