LaundryCard Kit Installation Guidelines
Overview
This page is intended to serve as a general guide to LaundryCard reader installation. It includes examples of cable running methodologies and universal installation principles.
This guide also assumes the installer has obtained the required kit for the relevant machine model. Installation kits are provided by Card Concepts Inc.
Recommended Tools and Supplies (Not Included)
Additional tools may be required if installation requires modification to machine panels.
General Installation Concepts
C-0110-MLV | C-0177 | C-0936 |
---|---|---|
LaundryCard reader installation includes common components that hold true across all manufacturers and models. All reader installations require one or more harnesses (example above, C-0110-MLV) and two Cat5 (C-0177, above) cable connections. Most installation kits also include a mounting bracket (example above, C-0936). Kits may also include a variety of other components such as coin drop covers, labels, and jumpers, but the core of the installation remains the same. The Cat5 connections provide power and data connection to the X-Changers and the wire harness provides the start signal to the machine.
General Mounting Guidelines
C-0930 | C-0936 | C-0968 | C-0970 |
---|---|---|---|
Mounting brackets and the level of machine alteration vary by machine model. Many kits utilize the C-0936 Vault Mount bracket which is easily installed into Coin Ready machines in place of the Coin Vault, and this requires no modification to the machine (Fig. 1a, below). Some kits utilizing the flat mounting brackets such as the C-0930 or C-0970 may require an opening be cut into the panel to accommodate the card reader- in this case, the bracket is typically mounted on the inside of the panel with the card reader installed through the front of the panel so that the existing reader bezel covers any excess in the panel opening. Flat Mount Bezels (C-0968) require the card reader itself to be modified to lock into the bezel, which is then secured to the machine panel (Fig. 1b, below).

Mounting Best Practices
If the mounting point is not specified by the kit instructions or the hardware itself (i.e. Vault Mount bracket), verify the C-0103 Card Reader Dimensions before making any modifications to the machine. Allow room for the card reader, harness connections, and Cat5 connections while avoiding any potentially damaging sources of heat or friction. Consideration should also be given to future cable replacement in the case of hardware failure.
Cabling Best Practices
Some machines may require relatively lengthy internal Cat5 cable runs. As discussed above, it is important to avoid any sources of potential damage in the way of heat and friction as much as possible. Some possible sources of damage include motors, heating elements, machine drums, belts, etc. Cables should be secured where possible to prevent machine vibration from shifting them to a potentially damaging position, as demonstrated below in Fig. 1c.
