How To: Install a C-5663-MT625 RFID Card Reader on v2 X-Changer

Overview

This guide will provide detailed instructions on how to physically install a C-5663-MT625 RFID Card Reader on an X-Changer for use with contactless Laundry Cards.

Requirements

If Replacing a Legacy Local Reader

• C-1611-UPG RFID Reader Upgrade Kit.
  This kit contains the following:

• An available USB port.

If Replacing an Existing RFID Card Reader

• C-5663-MT625 RFID Card Reader.

  Open

  

• (2) C-1062 Kep Nuts (if one or neither are available).

Tools

• 1/4” Kep Nut Driver (or socket / wrench).

If replacing a Legacy Local Reader:

• Hex Bit Driver or equivalent sized Hex/Flat/Phillips Driver.

  • The type of driver to use depends on how the Local Reader is mounted to the X-Changer.

• Phillips Screwdriver.

Preparation

• Before installing the RFID Card Reader, ensure that the X-Changer’s LaundryCard applications are stopped. If needed, you could also safely power off the X-Changer, should there be any concerns of using tools on a live X-Changer.

• Both the front and back door of the X-Changer may need to be open to install the RFID Card Reader.

Installation

1. Unlock and open the front and back doors of the X-Changer.

2. If replacing a legacy Local Reader:

   1. Disconnect all cables from the Local Reader.

      Open

      

   2. Use a screwdriver or bit driver to unscrew the Local Reader’s two front mounting screws. The type of driver required may vary.

      Open

      

      ^{You may need to peel off the adhesive cover to access the screws to the left and right of the card insert port, if the front screws are covered by the bezel.}

   3. When unscrewed, remove the Local Reader from the X-Changer’s front door panel.

   4. Unscrew and detach the legacy reader from its bezel through the four (4) screws located above and below the front card reader insert.

      ^{If you left some of the adhesive cover intact, you may need to peel off the remainder to access the bezel screws.}

   5. Push against the bottom corners of the LCD screen bracket to set the screen as far back as possible.

   6. Under the legacy reader housing, unscrew and carefully remove the following:

      ^{Mag stripe pin, pin holder, and screw.}

      1. Mag stripe pin holder.

      2. Mag stripe pin.

      3. Protective cover screws.

         Open

         

   7. Using the (4) C-1087 Screws and (4) C-5711 Magnets, insert each screw into their respective magnet with the screw head flush with the magnet and secure to the protective cover and screw holes.

   8. Reconnect the ethernet cable and communication harness to the Legacy Card Reader.

   9. Place the reader safely in a metal area in the X-Changer where the reader or its cables will not impede closing the door or any components. If you mount it onto the X-Changer door, ensure the legacy reader is away from the RFID Card Reader.

   10. Continue with Step 4.

3. If replacing an RFID Card Reader:

   1. Disconnect the RFID Card Reader USB cable from the X-Changer PC.

   2. Use a Kep Nut Driver to unbolt the reader from the X-Changer door.

   3. Remove the previous RFID Card Reader.

4. Ensure the C-5663-MT625 RFID Card Reader’s tray slot is facing upward and insert the card reader’s threads through the Local Reader port’s thread holes.

   The RFID Card Reader is facing the right direction when you can set a standard sized card in the card tray without having to hold the card in place.

5. Secure the RFID Card Reader to the X-Changer door using C-1062 Kep Nuts.

   ^{You may need to hold the RFID Card Reader in place while securing the Kep Nuts.}

6. Feed the RFID Card Reader’s USB cable into the rear USB ports of the X-Changer PC and connect the USB cable to an available USB port.

   1. Alternatively, if there is no available USB port in the rear of the X-Changer PC, you may use one of the available USB ports in the front of the X-Changer PC.

      ^{Ensure there is enough clearance to close the front X-Changer door.}

Once the install and configuration processes are completed, you will be able to use contactless Laundry Cards at the X-Changer for new customers. Existing customers who need to obtain a contactless card can do so from the Card Swap menu.
