How-to Reset a FasCard Satellite and FasCard Access Point

Overview

This guide will provide steps on how to complete a hardware reset for a FasCard Satellite (Current and Legacy SATs) and a FasCard Access Point (FCAP).

Note

This should be completed under the guidance of CCI Technical Support when an installed SAP experiences a problem, after other troubleshooting steps have been taken, and is no longer operational. The purpose of the reset is to allow the SAP to be returned to the CCI "SatBoot" configuration by performing this reset. 

Required Items

  • Access to FasCard Satellite(s) and/or FasCard Access Point(s). 

  • Paperclip or pin small enough to press RES button on a legacy C-1491 Satellite Access Point. 

Step-by-Step Guide

C-1491 Satellite Access Point (Legacy)

IMPORTANT

This procedure should only be performed on Satellites that have the "SatBoot" label affixed, as shown below.

If this is performed on a non-SatBoot capable unit the device will be reset to factory defaults and must be returned to CCI for reconfiguration.

  1. Disconnect power from the Satellite.

  2. Press and hold the ‘RES’ reset button.

  3. Reconnect power to the Satellite.

  4. Wait until the (ACT Light or Green Light) starts flashing.

  5. Release the 'RES' reset button.

  6. Keep the Satellite powered on.

This reset operation will configure the Satellite to the initial CCI "BootStrap" configuration.

  • The Satellite will then automatically download and install the latest ‘operational’ configuration.

  • During this sequence, it is important to keep the Satellite powered on. This procedure may take up to 15 minutes.

  • After the downloads and installation are completed, the Satellite will automatically become operational.

    • This can be verified by checking the Administration Site → System → Satellite Status. 

    • The Satellite will show 'Online'. 

If you wait until LED stops flashing, and only then release the button - this will instead launch Netinstall mode, to reinstall RouterOS.

C-1491-V2 hAP ax³ Satellite (SAT)

  1. Disconnect power from the SAT.

  2. Reconnect power to the SAT and immediately press and hold the ‘RESET’ button the moment power is reconnected.

  3. Wait until the Center Blue Light turns Green and starts flashing, then release the 'RESET' button.

  4. Keep the SAT powered on.

This reset operation will configure the Satellite to the initial CCI "BootStrap" configuration.

  • The Satellite will then automatically download and install the latest ‘operational’ configuration.

  • During this sequence, it is important to keep the Satellite powered on. This procedure may take up to 15 minutes.

C-4491 CCI Access Point (CAP)

  1. Disconnect power from the CAP.

  2. Reconnect power to the CAP and immediately press and hold the ‘RESET’ button the moment power is reconnected.

  3. Wait until the User Light (Green Light on opposite end of the Blue Power Light) starts flashing, then release the 'RESET' button.

  4. Keep the CAP powered on.

This reset operation will configure the FCAP to the initial CCI "BootStrap" configuration.

  • The FCAP will then automatically download and install the latest ‘operational’ configuration.

  • During this sequence, it is important to keep the FCAP powered on. This procedure may take up to 15 minutes.

  • After the downloads and installation are completed, the FCAP will automatically become operational.

    • This can be verified by checking the Administration Site → System → FCAP Status. 

    • The FCAP will show 'Online'.
