Reset the Cycle Timer of a Card Reader

OVERVIEW

Once a machine has been started by the card reader, an internal timer is started that will prevent any other card from interacting with the card reader during the cycle time.  There are two ways you can reset the cycle timer on a card reader.

To access this function, your specific Card ID (The 12-digit number on the back of the card) must have EQUIPMENT STATUS selected under MAINTENANCE in permission settings .  Please see your store Owner/Manager to update your permission settings.  See Permission Settings and Functions for more information on how to set permissions.

To access the Equipment Status screen you must choose Maintenance from the main menu.

Reset the Cycle Timer of a Card Reader from the X-Changer

  1. Insert your card.

  2. Select Maintenance.

  3. Select Equipment Status.

  4. Select the Machine Reader you want to reset.

  5. If the machine reports a status outside of Machine Ok such as in-use, change status to "Machine OK" and acknowledge the follow-up screen.

  6. Touch SAVE to exit the screen.

  7. The reader will reset and be available to accept cards again.

  8. Note, however, that if you want to record a reason why you are re-starting the timer, first disable the machine with the appropriate code, and then return its status to 'OK'.

This feature only works with 'Pulse' mode card readers and will not work with 'Multi-Vend' style card readers.

Reset the Cycle Timer of a Card Reader from the Card Reader

This prevents other customers from accidentally swiping a card reader on a machine that is already running.  The Technician Card has a unique feature that allows resetting the cycle time to stop and restart a machine for testing purposes.

To Reset the Cycle Time:

  1. Insert the Technician card while the machine is running and quickly remove it.

  2. After a few moments, the cycle time will reset and the card reader will be ready to accept another card.

This feature only works with 'Pulse' mode card readers and will not work with 'Multi-Vend' style card readers.

Note that this process only works if the Technician's card that started the machine is trying to stop it. Otherwise, you must go to the X-Changer to stop a machine's timer.
