Dell Hard Drive Replacement (Optiplex XE2)

This page is meant to guide operators on the SATA HDD replacement of a Dell XE2 PC.

Before opening the computer housing, make sure all power is disconnected from the unit.

Step-by-step guide

1. Remove the top lid of the computer by pulling the release lever upwards.
   
   
   

   Open

   

   
    

2. Remove the CD-Rom drive by lifting the release tab and pulling it back.

3. Locate the hard drive and set its blue tab to unlocked.
   
   
   

        

   
   
   
   

4. Lift the hard drive casing upward and unplug the connection cables
   
   
   

       

   
   
   
   

5. Pinch the blue tabs and slide the hard drive back until fully removed.
   
   
   

        

   
   
   
   

6. Remove the hard drive from the blue casing and install the replacement drive, then reverse the steps to reassemble.
