This page is intended to guide the user through proper

rebooting of

reboot and shutdown procedures for the computer within each X-Changer

computers

cabinet.

Rebooting the computers can often solve small system issues and should be incorporated into general maintenance on a regular basis. 


Determine the Primary System

Method 1: LaundryCard Main Page

LaundryCard software versions 6.5 and higher display Primary and Backup indicators in the upper left hand corner of the screen when LaundryCard applications are running.  Older software versions require different methods to obtain Primary and Backup information.

Method 2: Using Store Status to Determine Primary System

Insert a Manager, Attendant, or Technician card and navigate to the Store Status page.

In V5 and V6, the Primary database will be in 'Database' row. If CCI1 is listed here, that corresponds to X-Changer A. CCI2 corresponds to X-Changer B.

In V7 and V8, the Primary database is clearly labeled as such in the top row of the System Status section.

Step 1 - Initiate Reboot

Select Reboot this Machine and click Go.

  Version 6: Do not uncheck Auto Start.

LaundryCard Versions 7 and 8:

  2. Choose the appropriate button to reboot the

  1. Backup X-Changer
by letter.

After this step is completed, the computer will shut down and restart. During this time, the Primary X-Changer may display a network connection error or experience a slow-down until the Backup X-Changer has restarted.  

  • Click OK when prompted.
  • After the LaundryCard program closes, another prompt will appear to confirm restarting Windows. Click OK

    Step 2 - Confirm Reboot

    1. Windows will prompt for confirmation of reboot. Click OK to confirm.
    If the system to be rebooted is Database Primary

    • Using a manager or attendant card, verify that no database backup errors exist on the Check Messages page.

    • Insert Manager's card to Primary X-Changer and click the Shutdown button.

    LaundryCard Versions 5 and 6:

    Select Failover to Backup and click Go.

      Version 6: Do not uncheck Auto Start.

    LaundryCard Versions 7 and 8:

    Select Failover to Backup.

    After this step is completed, the computer will shut down and restart. During this time, the original Backup X-Changer will become the new Primary X-Changer and may display a network connection error or experience a slow-down until the original Backup X-Changer has restarted.  

    • Click OK when prompted.
    • A database backup will be performed. Click OK when prompted by the completion notification.
    • After the LaundryCard program closes, another prompt will appear to confirm restarting Windows. Click OK.

    Required Hardware

    • USB Keyboard
    • Mouse or touch screen
    If system to be shutdown is Database Backup

    Instructions

    1.  Connect the keyboard to an available USB port on the computer and press the Windows key located along the bottom row.

               

    2.  A Start menu will appear at the bottom left corner of the screen. Using the touch screen or a mouse, click Shut Down.

    3.  A window appears which allows log off, restart, or shut down. Select the desired option then click OK.

    If system to be shutdown is Database Primary

    • Using a manager or attendant card, verify that no database backup errors exist on the Check Messages page.

    • Insert Manager's card to Primary X-Changer and click the Shutdown button.

    Select Failover to Backup and click Go.

    After this step is completed, the computer will shut down and restart. During this time, the original Backup X-Changer will become the new Primary X-Changer and may display a network connection error or experience a slow-down until the original Backup X-Changer has restarted.  

    1. Click OK when prompted.
    2. A database backup will be performed. Click OK when prompted by the completion notification.
    3. After the LaundryCard program closes, another prompt will appear to confirm restarting Windows. Click Cancel.
