Overview

This guide is intended to walk you through the conversion of a stack add-on kit for Fascard F2 readers to the Fascard F3 reader. This guide is for both the MLV or serial connection and the SLV or pulse connection. These instructions are generic and apply to all manufacturers.

Instructions

MLV Connection

  1. Start by removing the F2 reader from the machine.

  2. Disconnect the Power connection

  2. Disconnect the existing add-on board from the reader by pulling the board straight out. NOTE: There may be some resistance and it may take some force to remove.

  2. Disconnect the MLV harnesses from the C-6401 F2 Stack add-on control board by depressing the retaining tab and pulling up in the harness connection. Make note of the connector the harnesses are plugged into, the board is marked Unit 1 and Unit 2. These connections will carry over to the new add-on harness. NOTE: These harnesses will reside in the cavity of the machine control board and will not be plugged directly into the reader and should be pushed into the controller cavity through the reader mounting point.

  2. Plug the existing MLV harnesses into the correct plugs you removed them from into the corresponding plug you noted earlier (Unit 1 or Unit 2)

  2. Remove the adhesive backing from the stack add-on board and adhere the board inside the control cavity in a location that will not have direct heat.

  2. Run the reader end of the C-6411 add-on harness through the mounting point of the reader and plug into the F3 reader on the "MLV" connection.

  3. Mount the new reader to the machine using the existing hardware.

SLV Connection

  1. Start by removing the F2 reader from the machine

  2. Disconnect the Power connection

  2. Disconnect the existing SLV connection from the F2 reader and leave in place as this connection WILL plug directly into the new F3 reader.

  2. Disconnect the existing add-on board from the reader by pulling the board straight out. NOTE: There may be some resistance and it may take some force to remove.

  2. Disconnect the SLV harness from the C-6400 F2 Stack add-on control board by pulling gently on the SLV harness to remove. NOTE: This harness will now reside in the cavity of the machine control board and will not be plugged directly into the reader and should be pushed into the controller cavity through the reader mounting point.

  2. Plug the harness that was pushed into the controller cavity into the C-6410 add-on board.
