Introduction

Certain doors, such as bathrooms, utility closets, employee access areas, or even access to a laundry location itself, can be configured to only be accessible via a card swipe or tap. This guide explains how to setup a Singlevend equipment type to use with a FasCard/FLEX reader and appropriate door strike to restrict access to unlocking a door to in-store customers using a loyalty card (or credit/debit card, if permitted).

Instructions

When a FasCard/FLEX reader is mounted and connected to an adjacent door strike mechanism or pulse-based door unlock/opening wiring such as automated sensor doors and the like, you would need to create the equipment type for the door reader, set a price (or set a $0.00 price), and assign it to the chosen ‘Machine Number’ the door will be assigned as.

I. Create a New (or Modify Existing) SingleVend Equipment Type

  1. As an administrator or authorized personnel with Equipment Setup permissions, log in to the
FasCard Admin Site and access the Equipment Types tab.

  2. Click Add New and from the New Equip Type dropdown, select SingleVend. You may change the default SingleVend name to any preferred name for said door once the Equip Type is selected.

    1. Alternatively, you can select an existing SingleVend Equipment Type to modify its settings.

  3. Set the Equipment Class to Door from the available options in the class dropdown.

  4. Set the Pulse Length to an appropriate amount of time a door strike should trigger for to allow a person to open said door (e.g. 5000ms for 5 seconds). This value may vary based on the door type.

  5. Set the Cycle Time to 2 seconds (or however much time in seconds to allow door to stay open before requiring another card insert).

  6. Click Save.

Set a Price* for Accessing Said Door

image-20240807-220527.png
  1. From the Equipment Details page for said door, click the Pricing button on the right side of the page.

    1. Alternatively, you can click the Pricing & Features sub-tab and select the Equip Type, Schedule (Pricing, from the dropdown), and Location/Location group, if applicable.

  2. Click Add New to set a price to said door and Save. If a price already exists, you can modify the cost amount by clicking on the appropriate price row.

*You can set the price to 0.00 to allow free access to a door. Doing so will still require customers to swipe/tap a loyalty card (or swipe a credit card, if permitted) to grant door access.

Assign the Equipment Type to the Appropriate Reader

image-20240807-220848.png
  1. Click the Machines sub-tab. If applicable, you may also need to select the appropriate location where the door equipment type will be assigned.

  2. Select the Machine Number the reader is assigned as (if already created), or click Add New to reach Machine Details.

  3. Set a Machine Label and from the Equipment Name dropdown, select the Door you named the Equipment Type as. If a New Machine, also set the Machine Number.

  4. Set any additional notes or affinities, if desired, and click Save.

Set Reader’s Machine Number

If the Door Reader does not already have its machine number set, you may set the machine number in one of the following ways:

  • If this is the first time the reader is powered on, the Set Machine screen will appear right away.

  • If a machine number was already preassigned to the reader and the number needs to be changed, you may do so from the Maintenance Menu:

    • When powering the reader on, you have a short window to press and hold your finger down anywhere on the touchscreen to access the Maintenance/Diagnostic Menu screen. Alternatively, you can swipe a Manager/Administrator card/employee card with the System Maintenance card reader privilege.

    • Navigate to Maintenance MenuSet Machine to reach the Set Machine screen.
