Overview

This page is intended to guide the user through the end-user portion of a FasCard Cellular Network setup.

On This Page

Cellular Options

The FasCard Cellular Network offers two network-use configurations.  Operators may utilize a FasCard CMR (cellular modem-router) as a primary internet connection or as a cellular backup to conventional internet access.  Operators that have received a FasCard Satellite Access Point (SAP) unit prior to Release 14 will require a new Satellite Access Point to add cellular backup service.   More information regarding service mode and data plans can be found on the FasCard Cellular Service Plan and Hardware Information page.

Network Configuration

Operators utilizing a FasCard CMR device must configure their network according to the diagrams below.  Three primary configuration options and three alternate configuration options are available, dependent upon intended network usage.

  • Diagram 1 - This diagram illustrates the standard FasCard network configuration (using Power-Over-Ethernet) when using the FasCard Cellular Network as a backup to conventional internet.
  • Diagram Alt 1 - This diagram illustrates the FasCard network configuration (using an AC Adapter for the SAP) when using the FasCard Cellular Network as a backup to conventional internet.
  • Diagram 2 - This diagram illustrates the standard FasCard network configuration (using Power-Over-Ethernet) when using the FasCard Cellular Network as the primary internet provider.
  • Diagram Alt 2 - This diagram illustrates the FasCard network configuration (using an AC Adapter for the SAP) when using the FasCard Cellular Network as the primary internet provider.
  • Diagram 3 - This diagram illustrates the FasCard network configuration (Using Power-Over-Ethernet) when using the FasCard Cellular Network as a backup to conventional internet with two satellites and a switch.
