How to Program Address on a FasCard Reader

Overview

This page is intended to guide the user through the process of addressing FasCard F1, F2, and F3 readers, and Flex/Flex RF readers.

Accessing the Maintenance Menu

There are two methods for accessing the Set Address mode on an F1 reader.

Method 1 – Access 'Set Address' Mode with Power Up Method

FasCard readers can be addressed during their initial start-up routine.

  1. Power cycle the FasCard reader.

  2. Immediately after the card reader version appears, press and hold all three buttons for up to 10 seconds.

  3. The System Maintenance menu will appear.

  4. Using the arrow buttons, navigate to the Maintenance menu and press - button to access it.

  5. Using the arrow buttons, navigate to the Change Machine ### and press - button to access it.

  6. Continue with the Setting Address steps below.

Method 2 – Access 'Set Address' Mode with FasCard Admin Card

FasCard readers can be addressed anytime with a loyalty card with appropriate privileges assigned.

  1. Swipe the Admin card with Machine Admin privileges on the reader.

  2. The System Maintenance menu will appear.

  3. Using the arrow buttons, navigate to the Maintenance menu and press - button to access it.

  4. Using the arrow buttons, navigate to the Change Machine ### and press - button to access it.

  5. Continue with the Setting Address steps below.

Setting Address

  1. Set Machine Number appears with 3 digits, with the first digit blinking.

  2. Use the up and down arrows to change the flashing digit to the desired value.

    1. If, for example, the reader address is #2, the address values will be ‘002’.

  3. Use the - button to confirm selection and move to the next digit.

  4. Once all three digits have the desired values, the newly set number will be displayed, and 'Confirm' will be flashing.

  5. Press - to confirm. The reader will begin downloading its firmware.

  6. Press any other key to display 'Retry', press - to re-enter the desired address.

Accessing the Maintenance Menu

There are two methods for accessing the Set Address mode on a touchscreen FasCard/Flex reader.

Method 1 – Access 'Set Address' Mode with FasCard Admin Card

FasCard readers can be addressed anytime with a loyalty card with appropriate privileges assigned.

  1. Swipe the loyalty card with Machine Admin privileges on the reader.

  2. The System Maintenance menu will appear.

  3. Select the Maintenance menu option.

  4. Select the Change Machine ### option.

  5. Continue with the Setting Address steps below.

Method 2 – Access 'Set Address' Mode with Power Up Method

  1. Power cycle the FasCard reader.

  2. Immediately after the card reader version appears, press and hold your index finger on the reader screen for up to 10 seconds.

  3. The System Maintenance menu will appear.

  4. Select the Maintenance menu option.

  5. Select the Change Machine ### option.

  6. Continue with the Setting Address steps below.

Setting Address

The following screen will appear:

  1. Digits will change from left to right as a number is touched.

  2. Press the back arrow to move from right to left for error correction.

  3. If, for example, the reader address is #2, the address values will be ‘002’.

  4. Press "Save" once all three digits are entered. The reader will begin downloading its firmware.
