F1: FasCard Reader WiFi Board Replacement Guide

Overview

Suppose an F1 reader fails to connect to the Satellite, depending on the nature of the problem the RedPine WiFi board will need to be replaced. This document provides a step-by-step guide for installing the RedPine WiFi board.

Disconnect any electrical device from power before performing any work on the device. Card Concepts Inc. takes no responsibility for any damage that may occur to target equipment. CCI Technical Support recommends using all appropriate safety equipment (such as hand and eye protection) to execute the instructions below.

Required tools and hardware

  • P/N C-5041 RedPine WiFi Board

  • T15 Torx Security screwdriver/bit

  • P1 Philips head screwdriver/bit

Step-by-step guide

  1. Unmount the reader from the machine using a T15 screwdriver/bit.

  2. Disconnect all cables connected to the reader.

  3. Take out the two (2) screws holding the WiFi assembly.

  4. Slowly remove the WiFi assembly and board, attempting to leave the MSR (read head) in its place.

  5. Disconnect the MSR cable on the WiFi board.

  6. Disconnect the gray ribbon ribbon cable from the main reader board.

  7. Disconnect the green ribbon cable from the WiFi board.

  8. Remove the defective WiFi board from the assembly along with the gray ribbon cable.

  9. Place the new WiFi board into the gray assembly card.

  10. Repeat steps 1 through 7 in reverse order.

  11. Allow the reader up to 10 minutes to power on and regain a connection to the Satellite.

    1. If the reader fails to connect to the Satellite after 10 minutes, perform a factory reset.
