Cellular Modem Router Use Policy

CCI Cellular Service is intended for FasCard products only. Connecting any non-sanctioned device will result in suspension of service.

Introduction

A Cellular Modem Router (or CMR for short) serves as an always-on internet source for a FasCard system Satellite Access Point (SAP), whether as a backup in case the local Internet Service Provider (ISP) is offline, or as the primary source where internet service may be difficult or unavailable for a location.

As this installation guide covers the various scenarios in which a FasCard CMR can be configured, bear in mind that no two locations may be the exact same, recommending best judgment when determining what setup is best for your location.

Hardware Requirements

When ordering a CMR, the device will come with a terminal-mounted antenna and preconfigured SIM card set up by CCI to provide internet service.

Hardware Installation

Various network configurations may be used depending on the scenario.

Regardless of whether installation and mounting takes place before or after configuration, any cabling that will connect to the CMR and a network switch (if applicable) must be readily accessible to complete setup.

Network Configuration

There are several connection layouts that may be utilized in setting up a CMR:

Primary Connection

Connect an ethernet cable from the CMR into the Power over Ethernet (PoE) adapter’s Data In port to serve as primary. Alternatively, if the SAP is independently powered via an AC adapter, you may connect an ethernet cable directly into SAP Ethernet port 1.

Primary Connection using multiple SAPs

For using the CMR as the primary connection to multiple satellites, connect ethernet cables out from the Data In port of each SAP PoE into the network switch, then then connect an additional cable from any available port on the network switch into the LAN port on the CMR.

Backup Connection

Connect an ethernet cable from the LAN port of the CMR into Ethernet Port 2 of the SAP for the CMR. This will allow the CMR to serve as backup in the event the ISP internet is offline.

Backup Connection using multiple SAPs

For using the CMR as a backup to multiple satellites, connect ethernet cables out from ethernet port 2 in all SAPs in-store to the network switch, then connect an additional cable from any available port on the network switch into the LAN port on the CMR.

Finishing Account Setup

CMR usage requires additional technical configuration from the FasCard Admin Site. Should further account and admin site setup be required after hardware is installed, you may contact CCI Technical Support for further assistance.
