Panel PC maintenance

Frequency: Annually

Required items

  • 3-in-1 Oil

  • WD40

  • Compress air

  • Philips head screwdriver

Step-by-step guide

LITE cabinets use a Synertron Panel all-in-one PC that is mounted to the front of the cabinet. Maintaining and cleaning this PC differs from the traditional form factor Dell PCs used in other LaundryCard systems.

  1. Unplug all cables from the bottom of the PC.

    1. Photograph or label all cable locations to make their reassembly easier.

  2. Unbolt the computer from the front door of the cabinet and set it face down on a clean and flat surface to prevent damage to the screen.

  3. Remove all screws from the back of the computer case.

  4. Remove all the screws on the right side of the computer case.

  5. Pull the back off to expose the internal components.

  6. Using canned air, blow out all dust and debris. Make sure to get under the motherboard and hard drive.

  7. Detach the small cooling fan from the processor by removing its four screws. Clean the fan thoroughly.

    1. The bottom of the fan will have a circular protective label covering the rotation bearing. Remove and set this label aside.

    2. Using 3-in-1 oil, add only one drop into the center rotation hub.

    3. If you do not have oil, use WD40, spray into a garbage can or sink, and then add only one drop from the the end of the straw. Wipe away any excess fluid.

    4. With the hub upright, spin the blades of the fan to distribute oil throughout the bearing. Wipe up any residue, re-apply the protective label, then re-install the fan.

  8. Repeat steps 7.a. to 7.d. on the exhaust fan. There should be two screws on the outside of the case that hold it in place, but LITE system computers may vary slightly. If there is a cooling fan on the processor, it is recommended to reverse the exhaust fan so hot air is drawn out of the case. This can be done by turning the fan around on the mounting bracket. This will improve cooling and minimize internal dust.
