FasCard F1 to F2/F3 Reader Conversion Installation Guide - Front-Mount
C-5402/C-5426-BASE incompatibility
These instructions are not compatible with previous used high-front/top mount readers or mounting bases.
Overview
This page is intended to serve as a general guide to convert the F1 Reader installation to the F2 Reader. All physical configurations are covered when converting the readers. For specific installation instructions, refer to the relevant kit documentation.

Recommended tools
T15 Secure Torx bit (or screwdriver with a T15 Secure Torx tip).
Also recommend a flex extension to accommodate for any tight angles/spacing if using any type of bit driver.
For existing Top-Mount solutions:
The C-6452 mounting base kit.
Large pliers (e.g. Straight Jaw or Hex Jaw Pliers) or an adjustable wrench.
May need two, in some cases.

The below instructions reference one kit method of upgrading older generation FasCard readers in a Front-Mount scenario.Â

Step-by-step guide
Remove the adhesive label from the top of the F1 reader to access the screws.
Remove the screws on the front the F1 reader.Â
Gently pull the F1 reader from the machine without disconnecting the wires.
Once the reader has been tilted downwards, disconnect the wires from it.Â
Remove the Chase Nipple from inside the machine face plate.Â
Remove the bracket for the F1 reader.Â
Install the F2 bracket, ensure the bracket's middle hole covers the same hole as the F1 reader.Â
Add the chase nipple to the inside of the machine facing to secure the F2 bracket.
Attach the harnesses to the F2 reader.Â

Thread the excess wiring through the chase nipple on the F2 Reader bracket and close the reader. Secure it with the C-5416 screws on the bottom of the reader.
