Remote Backup with Advanced LaundryCard Live

This page discusses the guidelines behind Advanced LaundryCard Live's Remote Backup feature.

X-Changers A and B

In the traditional sense, LaundryCard's system consists of at least two (2) X-Changers synchronized in a Primary and Backup scheme where both X-Changers house the same database worth of data but frequently synchronize to ensure data not only remains consistent across the whole system but is able to compensate for the other X-Changer in the event that one of the X-Changers goes offline for a prolonged period.

Remote Backup

With Advanced LaundryCard Live (ALCL), a persistent daily backup of X-Changer data is stored on the Live server, providing both an additional layer of data retention by being stored in the Live space, but also an added layer of data security due to the latest encryptions and protocols utilized at our Data Center.

How to Check for an Active Remote Backup

The System Dashboard will indicate whether a store is currently up-to-date with their last active backup, or if there was a remote backup error previously.

Always Online State

Remote Backup requires a persistent, stable internet connection to function properly.

Remote Backup Failure

When a remote backup failure occurs, the following error will appear on the System Dashboard:

Additionally, if an alert is set up for this error, you will receive an email confirming the remote backup failure.

When addressing a Remote Backup failure, there are potential factors to consider:

  • LaundryCard Live communicates with the X-Changer on a persistent basis and thus requires a stable, always-on internet connection. Verify that the following are in operation:

Firewall

Is the device getting power? Are there lights flashing on the device? Any solid lights? Can you unplug and plug power to the device?

X-Changer Network Switches

Are any of the indicator lights per assigned number that have cables plugged in lighting up? Flashing? completely off?

X-Changer PCs

Does the X-Changer report any Database-related errors between either X-Changer A or B?

Can a Credit Card transaction be processed? Are you able to check whether the PC is getting internet?

For the second question, we recommend connecting a keyboard and mouse to the Dell PC and pressing the
Windows () key.

A "No Internet Access" yellow notice icon such as this: will appear in its place if there is a physical connection but no outgoing internet communications. Otherwise, a red would take its place if absolutely no connection can be detected.

Internet Provider Hardware

Have you checked all connecting internet devices? Are their status indicator lights physically lit / flashing? Are any bad status lights showing? Have you tried power cycling your hardware? Have you checked with your Internet provider to see if there is an outage in the area?

LaundryCard Live

Attempt to connect to https://live.laundrycard.com on a smartphone or computer. Is the site accessible?

Contacting CCI Technical Support

If the system continues to fail backing data up to LaundryCard Live's servers a minimum 24 hours after the failed attempt, it is recommended to contact CCI Technical Support at support@laundrycard.com for further assistance in determining the root cause, as a persistent remote backup failure can stem from one of a number of potential causes.
