Additional Requirements

  • Access to the inside of the Touch Kiosk from the front end.

  • PH1 Phillips Screwdriver (or driver with PH1 Phillips bit).

  • 3mm or 1/8” Flathead Screwdriver.

  • (Optional) Zip tie cutters and zip ties.

  • (Optional) Small suction cup puller after unlocking cabinet.

Prepare Touch Kiosk (Powering Down)

  1. Unlock the Touch Kiosk cabinet and carefully slide the drawer until you reach the railing stopper. You do not have to pull the drawer completely out, but take caution if the kiosk is not wall-mounted or supported by a mounted base in case the drawer is susceptible to any non-mounted issues or falling out.

  2. Press the Maintenance button on the Touch Kiosk power controller found above the Bill Acceptor behind the Touch Kiosk.

  3. On the touchscreen, press Maintenance Menu → Shutdown/Reboot → Shutdown Computer and wait a few seconds as the Touch Kiosk goes offline.

If you are not sure whether the Touch Kiosk is completely off, check both the visible port side of the TK mainboard (left side when facing the front of the touchscreen) and the power controller for any powered-on lights. If not illuminated, the system is offline.

  1. On the accessible power supply past the Bill Acceptor on the Touch Kiosk shelf, flip the main power switch into the OFF (0) position and unplug the power cable.

Remove the Old Card Dispenser

When disconnecting and unmounting the old Card Dispenser from the Touch Kiosk drawer, make sure there is enough supported weight so that the drawer doesn’t fall in a forward lean from excess front weight.

From behind the left side of the Touch Kiosk when facing the touchscreen, the card dispenser unit can be found as the entire assembly and will be removed. No dispenser disassembly required.

  1. On the front end of the dispenser, disconnect the USB Cable and Dispenser Harnesses from dispenser itself.

    5.1.1.jpg
  2. Trace the dispenser USB cable to its opposite end on the Touch Kiosk mainboard and disconnect from the USB ports.

    1. That should leave the Touch Kiosk mainboard with, at most, two (2) available USB ports, or one (1) port if the kiosk has a C-1009 EMV Bezel installed.

      5.1.2a.jpg
USB ports may differ between Touch Kiosks for which port the Card Dispenser connects to.
  3. Disconnect the two (2) harness connectors in the power controller area of the Touch Kiosk:

    1. On the Power Controller, disconnect the CARD power connector from the controller.

      5.1.3a.jpg
    2. Behind the Power Controller, unmount the screwed-in 9-pin serial connector with a Philips screwdriver and disconnect the communication cable.

If cable management is necessary, ensure that you remove the correct series of zip ties and cable wraps. CCI is not responsible for any problems that may have been the result of attempted cable management.

  1. On the Card Dispenser itself, unscrew the four-to-six (4-6, depending on model) mounting screws using either a PH0 or PH1 Phillips screwdriver or bit and remove the card dispenser from the Touch Kiosk.

If the dispenser has a grounding wire in one of the dispenser mounting screw holes, it is vital said screw and ground wire are reattached.

  1. Locate and disconnect the C-5651-POWER and C-5651-CABLE harnesses from the side of the MT166-C dispenser.

    1. If a mounting square is present and within the clearance space of where the C-5650R1 Card Dispenser will sit, make sure to remove the square before placing the C-5650R1 Card Dispenser in place.

  2. Locate and disconnect the opposite ends of the C-5651-POWER and C-5651-CABLE harnesses. Once disconnected, tuck or hide both harness ends for potential use in the future.

    1. The terminal block connector end of the C-5651-POWER harness will be located on the right side of the Power Controller where the “CARD” port is located.

      DSC_0272A.jpg
      1. The terminal block connector will be reused for the C-5666-CBL Asahi Seiko Card Dispenser Harness’s 4-wire (2x2) power portion of the harness. Using a 3mm or 1/8” Flathead Screwdriver or bit, unscrew the two terminal leads enough to safety pull the existing two (2) wires from the block connector.

        DSC_0282.JPG
    2. The 9-pin serial connector end of the C-5651-CABLE will be located behind the power controller, secured into the left port. You would need a PH1 Phillips Screwdriver or bit to remove the two (2) screws on each side.

  3. Locate the four (4) phillips screws for the lower mounting bracket for the MT166-C card dispenser and the grounding screw. Unscrew those specific screwpoints and save these mounting screws.

Mount and Install the C-5650R1 Asahi Seiko Card Dispenser

Before mounting the C-5650R1 Asahi Seiko Card Dispenser, connect the following harnesses and cables in place:

  • The 9-pin serial harness should attach and screw down into the 9-pin serial port behind the Power Controller.

    DSC_0290.JPG
  • The 4 (2x2) wires need to be screwed down into the green terminal block connector and connected to the Power Controller board as such:

    DSC_0285.JPG
When connected to the CARD port, white/red wires should be positioned on the top slot, with the green/black wires positioned on bottom slot.
  • The C-5682 1' USB A-to-B cable would connect to one of the available USB ports on the right of the Touch Kiosk mainboard.

    DSC_0291.JPG
  1. Position the C-5650R1 Asahi Seiko Card Dispenser into place in the Touch Kiosk drawer, ensuring four(4) mounting holes align.

    DSC_0295.JPG
  2. Screw down the grounding wire to the Card Dispenser chassis using the rear-right screwpoint.

    DSC_0299A.jpg
If necessary, use one of the four (4) C-0149 washers between the screw-head and grounding wire to reduce any gaps.
  3. Screw down the remaining three (3) mounting screws using the C-0149 washers.

  4. Feed the opposite ends of the harness and cabling through the harness channels to connect the combo harness and USB cable to the side of the Asahi Seiko Card Dispenser.

If further cable management is necessary, ensure that you rewrap a series of zip ties and cable wraps so that none of the removed or newly installed harnesses get stuck to the Touch Kiosk drawer slide or the locking door mechanism.

Power and Test the Installed Dispenser

  1. Reconnect the power cable to the rear power supply and flip the main power switch into the ON (1) position.

  2. Once fully powered and Touch Kiosk reaches the Home/Idle screen, on the Power Controller, press the Maintenance button.

  3. On the touchscreen, press Diagnostic Menu → Start Diagnostics and observe the Card Dispenser section of the diagnostic screen.

The Asahi Seiko dispenser’s Card Dispenser and Dispenser Card Reader sections differ dramatically between the two dispensers installed.

  1. Insert a series of unused Laundry Cards (FasCard/FLEX format) with the included metal weight at the top of the stack and perform the following testing:

    1. In the Dispenser Card Reader section, press the Reset Comms button.

      1. Result should show the Comms field go from an Offline state to an Online state.

    2. In the same section, press the Reinstall Device button.

      1. Result should show the Card Dispenser briefly disconnected and back online after a few seconds.

    3. Once back online, press the Power On button in the Card Dispenser section.

      1. Result should show a Power Off button with the Comms field in the Dispenser Card Reader section in an Offline state.

    4. Press the Power Off button to complete the card dispenser power cycle test.

    5. Press the Dispense Card button, retrieving the card being dispensed.

      1. In the event that the dispenser retrieves the card and redispenses said card, this may likely be due to the magstripe not being read on the first dispense attempt. Do not grab the dispensed card until the dispenser stops swiping the magstripe and sits idle.

    6. Continue to repeatedly Dispense Cards until you reach at least 20 cards dispensed.

      1. You can also test the Disable Read function by counting up the amount of cards you want disabled.
