Installation

Before beginning, make sure to wash your hands when handling the acrylic or purchase a pair of white cotton gloves or rubber gloves to avoid getting fingerprints or oils on the acrylic

Opening the X-Changer Door

You'll need the keys and the crank to open the X-Changer door.

  1. Insert the small end of the crank into the opening on the right side of the X-Changer.

  2. Rotate the crank in a circular motion from left to right to loosen the cabinet door.

  3. Gently pull the cabinet door open.

Disconnecting all relative part cables

Disconnect the Monitor Cables

  1. Disconnect the various cables plugged in the back of the monitor inside the cabinet door. Disconnect the Power, VGA and USB or Serial connections.

Disconnect the Card Reader Cables

  1. Unplug the network cables from the back of the reader.

Disconnect the Bill Acceptor cables

  1. Carefully remove the cables from the side of the bill acceptor.

Disconnect the Credit Card Bezel cable

This section can be skipped if not currently accepting credit cards.

  1. Unplug the existing Credit Card Bezel data cable from the serial port adapter on the back of the computer and remove the cable with the Bill Acceptor. This may require cutting zip ties holding the cable to the door.

Removing the Original Parts

Removing The Monitor

Note: You will want to have a second person available to hold the monitor in place as it will fall when the last of the screws are removed.

  1. While holding the monitor, remove the mounting screws for the monitor and set aside for later installation.

  2. Remove monitor from the door and set aside for later installation.

Removing the Card Reader

  1. Detach the card reader by removing the label covering the screws first.  Discard the old label.

  2. Remove the two (2) retaining screws from the front of the reader.

  3. Remove the reader from the door.

Removing the Bill Acceptor and Cash Box

  1. Remove Bill Acceptor cash box from the back of the Bill Acceptor.  Remove by lifting up and away from the cabinet door to remove it from the slots.

  2. Remove the Bill Acceptor using the 11/32" deep well socket.  Loosen the nuts holding the Bill Acceptor in place and remove the nuts by hand.  Place these nuts to the side as you'll need them later to reinstall the bill acceptor.

  3. Remove the bill acceptor from the door.

Adjust the Card Dispenser

  1. Loosen but don't remove the mount screws on the bottom of the dispenser. (The Bill Acceptor should be removed before access to these screws is possible.)  These screws need to be loosened to slide back the card dispenser tray before sliding in the new acrylic so it will not be damaged.

  2.  Pull the card dispenser unit back until it stops and the front tray clears the door slot.

  3. Tighten the lock barrel nut, if needed, as it may be loose.  To tighten, you can use a mallet and a flat head screwdriver.

Removing the Acrylic Panel

  1. Remove the acrylic by first removing retaining strip from the top of the inside of the door by removing the (5) 11/32 in nuts from the mount screws.

  2. Pull up to remove the strip.

  3. Pull the acrylic straight up and out of the tracks making sure to pull it away from the door slightly to avoid scratching against the lock.

  4. Make sure to pull out as straight as possible as it can jam or chip if removed at an angle.

  5. Once the old acrylic panel has been removed, wipe down the front of the X-Changer with a damp cloth to prepare the surface for the new acrylic panel.

  6. Make sure the front is dry before proceeding.

EMV Bezel Measurement and Drilling

This section requires drilling into the metal of the X-Changer. It also requires handling the fragile acrylic face plate for the X-Changer. As such please make sure to use extreme caution to avoid any damage to the acrylic sheet. If you are uncomfortable drilling into the metal, please consult a professional. CCI is not responsible for any damage or breakage as a result.

Measurements

  1. Carefully insert the new acrylic plate into the door of the X-Changer by sliding it in from the top. Go slowly and do not force it as it may get scratched.

  2. If the acrylic is not inserting smoothly, check the metal channel for dents or bends and adjust as needed.

  3. Another option is to insert the left side of the plate into the channel just above the bottom channel. Slightly bend the acrylic to fit in the channel on the right, then slide down into the bottom channel. Make sure not to bend too much to avoid cracking.

  4. The acrylic must be all the way down into the bottom channel. If the acrylic is seated properly, ensure all openings are flush and correct.

  5. Note the position of the bezel mounting point.

  6. Insert the drilling template into the opening. Making sure it is right side up. The four screw holes should be at the top as indicated in the photo below.

  7. Mark each individual hole with a pointed object or fine tipped marker. If using a sharp object, make sure to scratch the topcoat of the paint to ensure the marks are visible after removing the template. Re-apply and mark as needed. It is better to scratch the top coat versus using a marker, as the scratch will help to keep the drill bit from wandering.

  8. Carefully remove the new acrylic plate from the door by sliding up slowly and pay attention to the channels as the acrylic is removed to avoid damage.

Triple check all measurements before proceeding!

Drilling

Apply masking tape over the length of the bottom channel to redirect the shavings produced by the drilling.

  1. Start by drilling the holes in the following sequence:

    • A -D (Using #18  drill-bits supplied) Also, pre-drill F with the #18 bit to make the hole easier to drill later with the larger 5/8" bit.

    • E (Using 5/16 drill-bit supplied)

    • F (Using 5/8 drill-bit supplied)

  2. Make sure to use a slow speed, apply pressure to the drill, and shave the hole. Do not force the bit at high speed.

  3. When all holes are drilled, it should resemble the below:
Note the hole sizes and be sure to drill the correct sizes.

  4. Important! Use a file or rasp to clean the outer and inner edges on each hole to remove any filings or spurs that may remain. This will avoid damage to the acrylic when reinstalling.

  5. Using compressed air, blow out the bottom channel to clear out any metal shavings or debris.

IT'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WEARING SAFETY GLASSES FOR PROTECTION WHILE USING COMPRESSED AIR IN CLEANING OUT THE CHANNEL OF ANY METAL SHAVINGS OR DEBRIS.

  6. Replace the acrylic plate and check the measurements on the back of the door by placing the new EMV Bezel in the mounting hole and checking that the holes match up to the holes on the EMV Bezel. If any measurement is off remove acrylic and correct as needed.

Installation of new acrylic

Take great care not to scratch or mar the surface of the acrylic as it can be easily damaged. A second person for help may be required.

  1. Slowly slide new acrylic into the door channels. If needed, slightly bending the acrylic to insert into the side channels, then sliding down into the bottom channel can be used if the side channels are bent or distorted.

Re-installation of door equipment

Dispenser

  1. Slide the dispenser forward to its original position. Take care to make sure the black tray is not damaging the acrylic as the dispenser is sliding forward.

  2. Center the dispenser tray in the door slot before tightening the retaining screws.

  3. Tighten the retaining screws when you are satisfied with the placement of the dispenser.

Reverting the Bill Acceptor to the standard bezel and installation

(Skip to step 3 if you do not have the original credit card bezel)

  1. Remove the previously installed Credit Card Bezel attached to the bill acceptor by unscrewing the four retaining screws. Set screws aside for later use.

  2. Install the black original bezel (C-1004-Bezel) to the Bill Acceptor and secure with the screws removed from the last step.

  3. Insert the Bill Acceptor back into the door and secure with the retaining nuts using a 11/32 deep-well socket wrench. Make sure the GREEN grounding strap has been put back on the mounting bolt.

  4. Plug in the two harnesses to the right side of the Bill Acceptor. Take care not to bend the pins in the bill acceptor while connecting the cables.

Install Acrylic Retainer Bar

  1. Reinsert the top retaining bar into the top of the door.

  2. Apply and tighten the nuts for each post using a 11/32" crescent wrench or deep well socket. Hand tighten only. Do not over tighten.

Touch Screen Monitor

Having a second person to help makes the next step easier to perform.

  1. Insert the monitor into the opening and holding the monitor with your left hand while applying the mounting screw loosely with your right hand.

  2. Once all screws are applied, adjust monitor up and down as needed until it looks correct then tighten the screws.

  3. Plug in the power, video and USB connections into the back of the monitor.

Card Reader Installation

  1. Insert the reader back into the door and secure with the two (2) retaining screws.

  2. Attach the network cable and the white bill acceptor power connection.

  3. Replace the screws with the new cover label on the front of the reader.

Bill Acceptor Cash Box

  1. Reattach the bill acceptor cash box by inserting into the groove and slide down to lock into place.

*NOTE*

After installation, make sure you clean the metal shavings that have accumulated on the speaker inside the cabinet.
