Distribution Board to v2 Control Head Replacement

Shutting Down the LaundryCard Software

Start with the Backup X-Changer first.
1. If this is after installing the Control Head in the Backup X-Changer, you will need to failover the Primary X-Changer before starting.
Connect a keyboard and mouse to the front of the computer.
Press the WINDOWS button on the keyboard.
Left-Click on the LaundryApp Utility application.
When the LaundryApp Utility window appears, left-click the Close all Apps button.
Wait for the apps listed to say Stopped before proceeding.

Disconnecting the Distribution Boards

Flip the breakers into the 'OFF' position (Fig. 1 shows them in the 'ON' position).
1. Note: This may cause a brief interruption in card reader operation.

Disconnect all cables connecting the Master Distribution Board to the Slave Distribution Board (see Fig 2 & Fig 3 below).

Disconnecting the Card Dispenser Communication Board

The highlighted card dispenser cable, seen in Fig. 4, connects to the Card Dispenser labeled port on the Control Head unit.

Locate the Card Dispenser communication board on the underside of the upper cabinet section.

Disconnect all cables from the communication board. The highlighted cable in Fig 4 will be plugged into the v2 Control Head.
Unmount the communication board from the cabinet using an appropriate-sized Phillips head screwdriver.
The board may now be removed from the cabinet and will no longer be needed.

Disconnect Remaining Connections From the Distribution Board

The X-Changer cabinet may utilize a single 8-port SeaLevel device or two 4-port SeaLevel devices. The steps listed below are suitable for both configurations.

Locate the SeaLevel device(s).
Disconnect all serial cable connections from the SeaLevel device(s).
Disconnect the USB cable from the SeaLevel device(s).
Trace the USB cable(s) to the computer and disconnect from the computer.
The SeaLevel device(s) may now be removed from the cabinet.
Locate the Cat5 (Ethernet) cable and serial cables connected to the Distribution Board.
Label each of the Cat5 cables appropriately as needed. Lines run from top to bottom and are designated as follows: Local Reader (top), Line 0, Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4 (bottom).
Disconnect the Cat5 cables.
Disconnect the serial cables from the Distribution Board.
Remove the serial cables from the cable management system (gray plastic) and discard them.

Installing the new v2 Control Head

As the v1 Cabinet does not have a rack for mounting the new Control Head, the new Control Head will need to be placed in the cabinet in an easy-to-access location for any repairs. Usually placed on the bottom of the cabinet or on the existing monitor shelf. It is up to the installer to choose the final resting place of the Control Head. Placement should correspond with the wires coming into the X-Changer, allowing enough room for all cables to be slacked.

Connecting the cables

Connect the line cables (lines 0 - 4 or 0 - 5 if adding a new line), making sure they are plugged into their respective locations as marked earlier.
Connect the Local Reader cable to its labeled port.
Connect the To Other Value Center cable to its labeled port.
Connect the Card Dispenser cable to its labeled port.
Connect the 15V Cross Over Power cable to its labeled port.
Connect the USB cable that you had disconnected from the SeaPort device earlier to the USB connection on the back of the unit.

Connect the provided C-0526-CABLE to the cabinet (local) reader by unplugging the white connector and inserting the red and black pins into the back side of the plug. They will click into place once seated properly.
1. IMPORTANT: The red plug should be on the right and the black plug should be on the left as seen in the photo below.

Reseat the white connector to the back of the reader.
Run the cable around the existing harness on the door up to the Control Head and plug in the Molex connector into the Control Head port marked DATA.
Finally, connect the power cable to the back of the Control Head.

Note

The C-0526-CABLE is only utilized on systems running v9, or greater. It allows the LaundryCard application to detect if the internal Control Head PSUs have failed and will report an error. The cable is not required for the Control Head to function.

Configuration of the Control Head Software

Ensure the rear power light of the Control Head is green, as seen in Fig. 7 next to the power cable.
Confirm the X-Changer PC is powered on.
Please contact CCI Technical Support at 630-930-5115, option 2, and they will install and configure the Control Head software.
Repeat all of the above steps, starting from Shutting Down the LaundryCard Software for the remaining X-Changers.

Removing the Distribution Board

This step should be completed after the new Control Head has been installed and confirmed operational by CCI Technical Support.

Locate the cable management system (gray plastic) and remove the front panel.
Cables may now be pulled away from the Distribution Board.
1. Disconnect any cables that are still connected to the Distribution Board and to other devices.
2. When removing the Distribution Board in the X-Changer, unplug its power cable from the battery backup unit.
3. Any remaining cables connected to other devices (e.g. cables from door hardware going to PC) may need to be reorganized.
Remove the four kep-nuts located on the corners of the Distribution Board using a 7/16" socket driver.
The panel should slide off of its bolts easily and may now be removed from the cabinet.
You may hold onto or discard the Distribution Board as you please.

v1 Control Head to v2 Control Head Replacement

Shutting Down the LaundryCard Software

Start with the Backup X-Changer first.
1. If this is after installing the Control Head in the Backup X-Changer, you will need to failover the Primary X-Changer before starting.
Connect a keyboard and mouse to the front of the computer.
Press the WINDOWS button on the keyboard.
Left-Click on the LaundryApp Utility application.
When the LaundryApp Utility window appears, left-click the Close all Apps button.
Wait for the apps listed to say Stopped before proceeding.

Disconnecting & Removing the v1 Control Head

Unplug all cables connected to the front of the Control Head making note of the Cat5 (Ethernet) cables and their respective positions (lines) on the Control Head.

Flip the rocker switch into the 'OFF' position on the back of the Control Head, as shown in Fig. 3.
Unplug the power cable from the rear of the Control Head.

You may hold onto or discard the v1 Control Head as you please.

v1 Control Head to v2 Control Head Replacement

Shutting Down the LaundryCard Software

Start with the Backup X-Changer first.
1. If this is after installing the Control Head in the Backup X-Changer, you will need to failover the Primary X-Changer before starting.
Connect a keyboard and mouse to the front of the computer.
Press the WINDOWS button on the keyboard.
Left-Click on the LaundryApp Utility application.
When the LaundryApp Utility window appears, left-click the Close all Apps button.
Wait for the apps listed to say Stopped before proceeding.

Disconnecting & Removing the v1 Control Head

Unplug all cables connected to the front of the Control Head making note of the Cat5 (Ethernet) cables and their respective positions (lines) on the Control Head.

Flip the rocker switch into the 'OFF' position on the back of the Control Head, as shown in Fig. 3.
Unplug the power cable from the rear of the Control Head.

Remove the four (4) retaining screws securing the Control Head to the cabinet rack. Place them somewhere easily accessible so they can be used for the v2 Control Head.

Carefully remove the Control Head from the rack as shown in Fig 5.
1. NOTE: you may need to loosen the bracket above or below it to remove the Control Head, as the screws on the Control Head can get caught.

Reroute the USB cable to the back of the cabinet. You may have to remove zip ties from wiring bundles to accomplish this, as shown in Fig 6 thru 8.

You may hold onto or discard the v1 Control Head as you please.

Installing the new v2 Control Head

Carefully insert the v2 Control Head into the cabinet taking care not to snag or damage any wires.

Secure the Control Head with two (2) of the retaining screws you removed from the v1 Control Head.

Connecting the cables

Connect the line cables (lines 0 - 4 or 0 - 5 if adding a new line), making sure they are plugged into their respective locations as marked earlier.
Connect the Local Reader cable to its labeled port.
Connect the To Other Value Center cable to its labeled port.
Connect the Card Dispenser cable to its labeled port.
Connect the 15V Cross Over Power cable to its labeled port.
Connect the USB cable that you had disconnected and routed to the rear earlier to the USB connection on the back of the unit.

Connect the provided C-0526-CABLE to the cabinet (local) reader by unplugging the white connector and inserting the red and black pins into the back side of the plug. They will click into place once seated properly.
1. IMPORTANT: The red plug should be on the right and the black plug should be on the left as seen in the photo below.

Reseat the white connector to the back of the reader.
Run the cable around the existing harness on the door up to the Control Head and plug in the Molex connector into the Control Head port marked DATA.
Finally, connect the power cable to the back of the Control Head.

Note

Configuration of the Control Head Software

Ensure the rear power light of the Control Head is green, as seen in Fig. 13 next to the power cable.
Confirm the X-Changer PC is powered on.
Please contact CCI Technical Support at 630-930-5115, option 2, and they will install and configure the Control Head software.
Repeat all of the above steps, starting from Shutting Down the LaundryCard Software for the remaining X-Changers.
