FasCard/FLEX Reader Operation
Overview
This document describes operational procedures to be performed on a FasCard/FLEX reader by an attendant or manager regarding collections and their associated reports as well as non-standard machine start methods.
Collecting a FasCard/FLEX Reader
TIP: Alerts can be configured to notify the operator when a collection is performed using the Configure Alerts page on the FasCard Admin site.
A collection should be performed on the FasCard reader any time cash is collected from the associated machine.  Performing the collection when cash is collected will keep coin counts current in the Coin/Cash Totals report. Collection amounts can be verified using the Collections report and the date/time of the collection can be verified using the Machine Activity report.  Collections may be performed by users with the Admin or Collector privileges as configured on the FasCard Admin Site - User Accounts page.
Performing a Collection
To perform a collection on a Touch Kiosk, see the Touch Kiosk Operation and Maintenance page.
To perform a collection on an Add Value kiosk, see the Add Value Kiosk Operation and Maintenance page.
Determine the generation of your FasCard/FLEX reader and refer to the appropriate steps below. See Determining CCI System and Version Information for assistance in determining reader generation if needed.
When performing a collection, any outstanding, uncredited coins will be recorded in the collection.
Starting Machines With an Employee Card
Managers, attendants, and any configured User Account with a card number and balance can be used to start a machine.  These transactions can be tracked with the Employee Activity report. These machines can be started as normal by swiping the associated card and selecting the 'Start Machine' option.  If the user has sufficient balance associated with their account, the machine will start.
Emergency Machine Starts
The Super Card allows machines to be started in the event of a satellite or internet connectivity failure. In the event of an outage, the credit/debit functionality of the FasCard/FLEX system will be unavailable.  Coin purchases will continue to function as normal and Loyalty purchases will remain available for the last 5000 cards used in the system.  Machines can be started by swiping the Super Card on FasCard/FLEX readers, or tapping the appropriate FLEX RF Super Card. Pulse configurations will start automatically whereas serial configurations may ask the user to confirm the cycle selection on the card reader.  Card readers displaying 'Machine Start: Free' still require the confirmation button to be pressed on the card reader.
Starting machines using the QR code on the reader
Machines can be started without a Loyalty Card by using the Mobile app and a phone's camera to read the QR matrix code on the reader. See FasCard Loyalty Site - Quick Start for more information.
