How to Reset a FasCard F2/F3 Reader

This guide is meant to provide a walkthrough factory resetting/bootstrapping an F2 or F3 FasCard reader.

General information

Resetting/bootstrapping a FasCard reader should be considered one of the last things to complete during the troubleshooting process. When resetting/bootstrapping a FasCard reader will cause it to delete all internally stored data and values. Any transactional information associated with the reader, should it be changed to a newly assigned machine or location, will be retained on the FasCard Admin site.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Power cycle the desired reader. This can be accomplished through the following methods:

    1. Power cycle the machine connected to the reader;

    2. If applicable, use a manager card that has the appropriate maintenance and diagnostic settings permissions;

    3. Locate the reader under the System tab on the Admin site, and select Reboot Reader, or;

    4. Manually disconnect the reader’s power cable and reseat it after 30 seconds.

  2. Upon bootup, the reader should reach its vend price.

  3. Using your finger, press anywhere on the reader screen for up to 10 seconds until you see the following menu options:

     

  4. Select the Factory Reset option.

  5. The reader will then download and install its base firmware configuration.

  6. Once complete, it will prompt you to assign a reader address (machine number) to be assigned.

  7. When a number has been entered (e.g., 002, 025, 130) the reader will then begin downloading its assigned firmware.
