Step 2 - Disconnect the reader housing from the housing plate

  1. Identify and remove the four (4) Philips screws.

    Fig. 2b
  2. Gently push the housing plate (with the control board and VP3300 attached) out from the main reader housing.

  3. Do not pull the housing plate away from the main reader housing, as the MSR cable will still be connected on the side.

Step 3 - Disconnecting the display from the Control Board

Step 4 - Mounting the display to the housing plate

  1. Peel off the F3 bezel cover (C-5514) from the reader housing plate.

  2. Take off the LCD screen (C-5517) from the housing plate. Be sure to fully remove the cables from the slot.

  5. Replace the F3 reader bezel (C-5514).

Step 5 - Connect the housing plate to the main reader housing

  1. Reconnect the LCD display and secure the ribbon cable clip to lock the cable into position.

  2. Reconnect the touchscreen interface cable by pushing the tip of the cable into its connector. Stop pushing once the cable feels secure.

  3. Slide the reader screen, housing plate, and control board back into the gray reader housing bracket. To do this:

    1. Slide the bottom half of the reader into the bracket first.

    2. Then push the top half into position.

      1. Take caution with the LCD and MSR cables as they may get caught between the housing bracket and the reader housing plate from the top and side.

    3. Pushing down slightly on the VP3300 unit will give some space to the cables to fit in the top half of the bracket.

Step 6 - Securing the reader and verifying functionality

  1. Locate the four (4) screws you removed earlier in Step 1 and reapply them to the reader housing plate and bracket.

    Fig. 2b
  2. Connect the power cable to the reader to confirm operability.

    1. If the screen is not working properly, troubleshoot accordingly.

  3. Remount the reader onto the machine.

    1. Refer to FasCard F2/F3 Reader Installation Guide - High-Front & Top-Mount, or;

    2. Refer to FasCard F2/F3 Reader Installation Guide - Front Mount.
