Maytag machines do not have to be set in 'Card/Serial', they do, however, need to be in 'debit' mode (for card reader communication.)
Maytag machines, regardless of which method used (Maytag MLV firmware, SingleVend (MLV+)), need to be set in 'Debit' mode.
